Our Vision
E te Atua, e ngaa hau e whaa o te ao, Whakapaingia mai a maatou mahi. Kia tupu te whaanau, kia hua te whenua, kia puaawai te marae. Homai te maatauranga, te maia me te rangimaarie, Kia whakatupu rangatira moo ngaa uri whakatipu. Tiakina maatou i raro i te maru o te aroha, Hei oranga moo te iwi, inaaia tonu ake, ake, ake. Haumi ee, hui ee, taaiki ee.
At Ngaa Hau e Whaa Marae o Pukekohe, our vision is grounded in Ururangi (the nature of the four winds) and expressed through the whakataukii “Kia tupu, kia hua, kia puaawai”; that our people may grow, flourish and thrive.
Our marae stands as a pan-tribal turangawaewae for whaanau who have arrived in Pukekohe from the four winds of Aotearoa, united through whakapapa, shared histories and collective responsibility.
Wellbeing
Our aspiration is for whaanau thriving and whenua flourishing, guided by maatauranga Maaori, rangatiratanga and bold leadership.
We seek to strengthen our identity as a Kiingitanga-aligned marae, embracing Tainui tikanga and kawa while remaining inclusive of all iwi who call Ngaa Hau e Whaa home.
Central to this vision is the well-being of our people, including spiritual, cultural, social, environmental and economic.
Our Four Pou
Looking ahead, our aspirations are shaped by four interwoven pou: Whenua and Facilities, Rangatiratanga, Sustainability, and Matauranga.
We aspire to see our whenua developed as kaitiaki, with warm, safe, compliant facilities, papakaainga housing for whaanau, hauora services, kura Maaori and spaces for arts, sports and waananga. These developments are not simply buildings, but expressions of manaakitanga and long-term stewardship for future generations.
Rangatahi Focus
Equally important is our commitment to growing leaders, particularly our rangatahi who are confident in te reo me oona tikanga, equipped with governance capability, and grounded in service to whaanau, hapuu and iwi.
Through sustainable practices, economic development, and the preservation of our taonga, stories and hiitori, we aspire to be a marae that is self-determining, resilient and future-focused.
Ultimately, our vision is intergenerational: to return our whaanau to the marae, to strengthen belonging and identity, and to ensure Ngaa Hau e Whaa remains a living, breathing centre of Maaoritanga for generations yet to come.
